Meet The Artist

Pamela Poole - Biography

Artist’s Statement

I live life “seeing” artistically, always composing paintings in my imagination from everyday experiences.  This is a wonderful way to live life!

My love of living in the South shows in my painting subject matter, inspiring me to categorize my work as “Southern Ambiance.”  Having been born in the Carolinas and living my life here, the genteel Southern Belle influence on my life as an artist has not been limited to the wonderful landscapes I enjoy here in a temperate climate for plein air studies. It has also been the foundation for my commitment to a more traditional mindset toward what art is.

Art should be understandable to any viewer as an interaction of meaning with the painting. The term "fine arts" denotes a realm of higher thinking and aesthetic creativity that can be widely appreciated within the universal understanding of beauty.  Motives of the heart of an artist for creating a painting to be shared with the public should contribute in a universally positive way to the culture.  I hope to use my inspiration to in turn inspire others, intending to be a blessing to viewers and collectors as they relate to a timeless composition that is universally appealing.

My work is described as lavishly colorful and contemporary impressionist in style, with compositions running off of the edges of the painting to imply the world around the subject. My favorite materials are pastels, Interactive Acrylics, and watercolor, in that order.  Because different subjects seem to be suited to one of those three options for me, I have not been able to entirely settle into only one of them. Indeed, using one of them for a painting seems to lead me to improve in another one for the next!

For high quality prints and notecards of my art, please see www.pamela-poole.artistwebsites.com  on Fine Art America, where you may custom order the size and style of print you need. Collecting my work is easy with options that include paypal, debit, or credit cards.  Facebook users may also like to see my page, Pamela Poole Fine Art, where I post what I am currently working on, techniques and materials I am experimenting with, and instructional information.  Please also consider following on Twitter at PamelaPooleArt.

Examples of venues where my work has recently been exhibited are the NC Statewide Pastel Exhibition 2013, the NC State Fair 2012, and the Atlanta Pastel Exhibition 2010.  My artist affiliations include the Pastel Society of NC, in which I serve as Exhibits Chair, Women Painters of the Southeast, PaintNC plein air painters, past President of the Summerville Artist Guild, teaching experiences for many years, and several local artist venues.  I believe artists should be active in their communities, therefore I participate in many opportunities to interact with the public.

Nothing I can ever do in this life, no relationship I have here, and nothing I can study and teach to anyone would have any meaning apart from my salvation and faith in Jesus Christ. My joy in Him and sharing His love with others keeps my perspective on doing it all for His glory.  (Ephesians 3:20, 21).
